Apple’s new operating system, OS X 10.9 Mavericks, was released yesterday. Please DO NOT be tempted to download and install it at this time.
There are many reasons not to upgrade at this point; one of the most significant being that if you use Apple Mail with Gmail or Google Apps, there are major bugs that could take down your email completely! There are also Safari bugs.

Please hold off on upgrading until:
- Apple fixes these bugs
- We’ve had a chance to test and use it
- All other programs on your computer are updated to work smoothly with Mavericks
We will let you know when it’s safe to do the upgrade
As always, we recommend that OS updates—especially a major upgrade like Mavericks—is performed by Sam & Company. This gives us a chance to confirm that you are fully backed up (hopefully to more than one device/location) and that your computer is properly prepared for the OS upgrade. The Mac/iPhone/iPad sync/connection is now more intricate than ever; an improper OS upgrade on one device can lead to data corruption everywhere.
It’s much easier and more cost effective to have us do the upgrade then to fix a mess!
